Graviton Theory / Cyber Nu-Metal

The Story

The records, and the reasons for them.

Where the name came from, what the songs are made of, how I make them, and what I want to do with any of it.

01

Why it is called Graviton Theory

The name comes from the one subject I was never allowed to study.

I applied to study physics. I did not get in. The criteria that kept me out were the kind you cannot argue with and cannot learn anything from, and that was the end of that route. I went into software instead, then computer science, then machine learning, then a doctorate in artificial intelligence. None of that was the plan. All of it became the training.

I never stopped reading physics. Quantum gravity, entanglement, how things behave at the edges where the usual descriptions give out. The graviton is the piece that would let quantum mechanics and general relativity describe the same universe without contradicting each other. Two accounts of reality, both of them working, neither fitting the other, one missing part that would join them.

That is where the name comes from. I spent my early life playing music and the rest of it building systems, and for a long time I could not see how one person was supposed to do both.

02

The songs are not fiction

Childhood, regret, work that went wrong, people I hurt on the way here.

The Acceptance is my childhood. I was the one outside the group. I climbed out of that by force, and then found the same pressure waiting in adolescence, and after it, applied by different people with better manners. The song does not resolve because I never got a resolution. What I got instead was smaller and more useful: the reality is harsh, it is not going to soften, and I keep going through it regardless of what anyone decides about me.

Second Shadow runs the other way. It is what I missed, and the people I hurt getting here. I have never been the wronged party in every story I am in. Some of the damage points back at me, and that is the part I find hardest to put on a record and the part I refuse to leave off.

Other songs come out of being edited out by people who called themselves reasonable, and out of trust that turned out to be worth less than it looked. I am not going to name any of it. I put the feeling in the songs, which is the only place it has ever been any use.

03

How it gets made

I write, arrange and remix every song. The other half of the job is getting them sung.

I cannot sing. That is not modesty, it is why there was no band here for twenty years. I played music for a long time and I was never going to be the voice on the recording. Modern production tools, AI among them, close that gap, so the songs arrive finished instead of staying ideas I once had.

No tool supplies the material. I lived it, I write the words, and I decide what stays. Nothing in a model knows which line is the true one, or which memory belongs on a record.

I have spent more than ten years on the research side of this field, which mostly means I am not precious about it. A studio is a tool and so is this. What I care about is whether the song was worth making.

04

Beyond the records

The records are the part you can hear. This is the part you cannot.

Three and a half years ago someone in my family received a diagnosis, and it rearranged what I think is worth my time. I am not going to put another person's medical history on a website. What I am left with is a specific, permanent interest in how much faster this could move, and very little patience for watching capable systems burn their cycles on nothing.

The part of this field I believe in is discovery: models that find structure in problems people cannot crack, in biology, in materials, in medicine. It is slow, unglamorous work and it rarely gets looked at. Graviton Theory has an audience, and if any of that attention can carry somewhere useful, I would rather it went there than into another argument about generated pictures.

Nobody is paying me to say that and I am not selling anything on this page. I work in this field, and I would like more of the conversation to reach the part of it that helps somebody.

05

The figures either side

I am the only person in this band. That is the part I want to change.

The picture at the top of this page is accurate. That is me in the middle, walking out, and those hollows on either side are where other people should be standing. They are placeholders. I have not found anyone yet.

I am looking. Vocalists, players, producers, people who work on visuals, people who are good at everything I am not. I have no label money and I am not going to pretend otherwise. What I do have is a finished catalogue, an identity that already holds together, a few people starting to listen, and no interest in keeping this to myself.

If the order looks backwards, start with the machine and then go find the humans, then yes, it is backwards. It was also the only order available to me, and it got the records finished instead of leaving them as plans. What I want next is to put faces where the shadows are.

If any of this lands

Listen to the records first. If you want to work on them, or you just want to argue with something I said up there, write to me. I read everything that comes in.
